Those bases are there with the permission of the host countries, not illegally occupying those countries you fucking libertarian moron. So yes, shit for brains, IRAN is the the threat — unless you support theocratic governments getting their hands on nuclear bombs. — Ryking
*facepalm*
Someone needs to remember how and why the U.S pissed it’s pants over the Cuban missile crisis. Let’s see, who would I trust more with nuclear bombs? A ‘theocracy’ (btw if you use that term you have NO understanding of the Iranian political system) that hasn’t attacked anyone in its thirty years of existence, despite being on the receiving end of a U.S funded attack by Saddam, or an evangelist, neo-imperialist hegemony which attacks sovereign states on a whim and happens to be the ONLY country to have ever used nuclear weapons aggressively and yet has the sheer audacity to take it upon itself to police the world? Bit of a no-brainer really.
There’s an Iranian joke that goes,
“What is America planning for us? With one foot in Afghanistan, and one foot in Iraq, well it’s obvious it’s planning to take a massive dump on Iran!”
Lets not even go into the reports that Israel’s nukes are pointed towards us.
Charles Lewis from the Centre for Public Integrity pretty much hit the nail on the head,
“We don’t really give a damn what anybody thinks. We rub everyone’s face in it, ‘We’re Americans and you’re not.’ We’re really, we’re talking the Roman Empire here, I mean we’ll do anything we want to do, anywhere we want to do it; you’re either with us or against us, and multi-lateral institutions like the UN are incidental and irrelevant to the powers that be.” (From John Pilger’s ‘The War You Don’t See.’)
Despite being a lifelong advocate of CND, I desperately hope Iran Is developing nuclear weapons and wish it would hurry the fuck up. Because mutually assured destruction seems to be the only way to get the rabid war hawks off our case.
